about dihan

Dihan Slabbert is a tour de force of talent! Among his long list of accomplishments, he is singer extraordinaire, composer, performer, musician, and a writer of short stories for shows, and song lyrics. In year 2000, he wrote, produced and staged his first musical production, appropriately named, "Debut."
As an original member of acclaimed boy band Hi-5, he received an impressive array of awards, including the ATKV Crescendo songwriting contest, Africa Vision, the Geraas award for best music video, as well as two Naledi award nominations for the sold-out run of "Oh Boy!" at the Sound Stage Theatre. He immortalized the Blue Bulls' new anthem "Een Hart Een Droom", both in the stadium, and the recording studio. His "Time After Time", hit number 1 on Highveld Stereo, Johannesburg's most popular radio station. He was a guest artist in "Nataniël and Friends" at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London.
Dihan recorded "Songbird" as a poignant duet with Nataniël, in 2005. Nataniël remarks of his co-stars of "The Moses Machine", Dihan Slabbert and Kyle Grant: "They have the most beautiful voices I have heard in a long time. And at each rehearsal, I thank God they are also beautiful!"
Year 2006 saw the launch of Dihan's successful solo career. His versatile singing and stunning cabaret performances garnered no less than rave reviews. He has worked with some of the industry's biggest names, including Nataniël , Richard Loring, and Tyrone Watkins.
Dihan returned to his passion for composing and producing, which culminated in his second solo show, "Prinz." Presented in English and Afrikaans, as a comedy and fantasy, he included songs by Billy Joel, Nina Simone, Seal and Jackson Browne, along with original narration and materials.
He released his first solo single and CD, "The Lava Song", a quartet of sophisticated ballads that showcases his dynamic vocal range. The titular song begins with a sultry longing that builds to a crescendo of soulful energy. Dihan plays an elegant piano rendition of "Moonlight Sonata" on the stirring "Silwermaan." All of the songs are beautifully arranged with lush orchestration.
Dihan continues to wow audiences with his captivating stage presence, as lead vocalist in several of Tyrone Watkins' productions. As one reviewer exclaims, "Such is his power and control that he almost steals the show from his fellow singers..."
Dihan is currently starring in the '80's Sensation" at the Performer Theatre!
